STEM Conference for Girls in Grades 4-8, October 23, 2021

 

The AAUW South Shore Area Branch and The Weymouth Public Schools hosted our sixth STEM Conferences for Girls in Grades 4-8.  The Conference was held at the Weymouth High School on Saturday, October 23rd from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

STEM Conference for Girls in Grades 4-8, October 26, 2019

The AAUW South Shore Branch, The Weymouth Public Schools and the DKG-Alpha Iota Chapter hosted a STEM Conference for Girls in Grades 4-8.  The Conference was held on Saturday, October 26th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Weymouth High School.  During the Conference the girls attended three one-hour workshops.  The Conference was open to any residents of the South Shore area.

The South Shore Area Branch of AAUW  partnered with the Weymouth (MA) Public Schools to present Envision the Future Weymouth , a five day science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) program for girls entering grades 6-9.  The program models effective practices and is designed to foster interest in STEM fields.  The program provided opportunities for girls to engage in challenging STEM activities, explore career options with STEM professionals, meet women role models in STEM fields, and connect with other girls with similar interests and aspirations.  The program was held at Weymouth High School July 18-22, 2016.

STEM1The South Shore Area branch of AAUW partnered with the Weymouth (MA) Public Schools to present a very successful day long STEM Conference for Girls in grades 5 through 8 in May 2014. Interactive Workshop included Programming, Robotics, Engineering, Exercise Physiology, Banking, Veterinary Science and more…. Thank you to our sponsors: Weymouth Bank, Exelon Generation, Whole Foods, Harris Chiropractors, AAUW (South Shore Branch), and the Weymouth Public Schools.

The second STEM Conference for Girls in Grades 5-8 was held on April 11, 2015 from 8am–1pm at Weymouth High School.  There were 19 workshops offered.  Some of the topics include:  Nursing, Dental Health, Orthopedic Medicine, Meteorology, Biology, Robotics, Chemistry, Astronomy and more.  Congratulations to Lynn Howard for a very successful day!

The 3rd annual STEM Conference for Girls on was held on Saturday, April 9th at the Weymouth High School. Thank you to everyone who helped to organize this year’s conference. We had 21 workshops this year, some presenters from last year were back again and we had many new presenters helping out this year. Some of the new topics included: Fire Protection Engineering, DIY Glowing Orbs, Chemistry in a Ziploc Bag, Veterinary Medicine, Fruit Loops: Discovering DNA, and Banking and Budgeting.

Our fourth annual STEM Conference for Girls in Grades 4-8 was held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Weymouth High School from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
